The managed recreational fishing area of Lake Hoikanlampi, near the village of Maanselkä, is extremely easy to reach. The lake can be found by Highway 6 between Kajaani and Joensuu, some 30 kilometres from Vuokatti, next to the Maaselän Etappi tourism services. Sheltered by forest, this narrow, kilometre-long lake provides anglers with a peaceful atmosphere. Lake Hoikanlampi is equipped with a car park, piers for fishing in the summer and a lean-to with fire pit.
Fish stock and maintenance
Rainbow trout is the most common and sought-after catch. Perch and pike are also obtainable. A good catch is almost guaranteed, as rainbow trout are stocked in the lake throughout the year.
