The Lake Saarijärvi recreational fishing area is located in an old-growth forest reserve in Puolanka. The most common fish are pike and perch. The fish stock of this wild, peaceful is managed by stocking trout and grayling. Rowing boats are permitted on the lake. There is a network of trails, and lean-tos and fire pits in the area.
