Winter Fishing

The Kaarneenkoski Rapid flows through the village of Niva. The rapid’s excellent brown trout stock attracts anglers even in winter.

At low water temperatures, fish hold at the head of the rapids and in the pool. Gravel has been spread for spawning in the intermediate pool and the watermill channel. Wading should absolutely be avoided until the early summer.
